How Many Races Will Marc Marquez Win This Year? A Contest for Our Readers.

021015top-i

I know several of you own a crystal ball.  Why don’t you put it to good use? Tell us in the comment section below how many races MotoGP champ Marc Marquez will win in the 2015 series. For reference, Marquez won 13 races last year, breaking Mick Doohan’s record for the most wins in a single season in the Premier Class.  The 2015 series will feature 18 races. Could he win all 18? Will Rossi, Lorenzo and Pedrosa raise their game and take several of the victories? Could some other riders surprise us and step up this year?

Marquez, just 21 years old, in all likelihood is still improving.  A scary thought.  Oh, and I forgot to mention he has a factory Honda beneath him again this year.

We have a prize in mind for the reader who comes up with the correct answer (we think you will like it), but you have to keep two things in mind. First of all, we will close comments on this article 10 days from today, and no other “entries” will be accepted after that date. Secondly, if multiple readers come up with the correct answer, we will conduct a fair, random selection of a single reader as winner.

So tell us, how many races will Marc Marquez win in the 2015 MotoGP championship series? Make sure your answer is clear … we need to know the single number you are predicting.

I’m of the opinion that Maq-Attack will win 12 this year! 13 if he calms down a bit and stops literally tryinf to ride the wheels off the Honda. Love watching the kid go! Anyone else think he’ll go on to suprass Valentino’s World Titles record? I do!

    All of them

  17. Philip says:

I’m going with somewhere around zero.

  18. Gary says:

Six. Marquez is insanely talented, but I think this is the year his ragged-edge riding style will bite him. After that, he will get the message, and win many, many more championships by riding more conservatively.

BTW … I hope I’m wrong. I’m a big fan. But it is hard to imagine how he can sustain that style of riding.

  19. ChrisRR says:

6 for mM 6 for Rossi

  20. Silver says:

9 I also think more competition from Yamaha, Ducati, etc

  21. jasinner says:

    9. With a more competitive Yamaha and Ducati he is going to have his work cut out for him!

  22. Claudio says:

13 (I think he will turn it up to 11 again, but his luck will run out.)

  23. Gixxerusa says:

According to my crystal ball, MM will win 11 races in 2015.

  29. DaveA says:

    I’ll go with 9

  30. Starmag says:

    7 wins

  31. Norm G. says:

10 again. bayliss, hopkins, and lorenzo not withstanding, human beings only have 10 fingers. after that, the parc ferme publicity antics become questionable.

  32. DB says:

My guess is half of them, 9. He will not have to win more than that to win the championship, 2nds, and 3rds will do it riding a bit smarter without taking as many chances.

  33. Ron H says:

14 if he stays healthy. Debating whether to subscribe to MotoGP.com this year. I really don’t want to if it’s going to be another follow the leader (MM) year.

  34. Larry Dwyer says:

    10

  35. MCmotoHistory says:

More Competitive field this year, I say 9 victories.

  36. Travis E says:

    I say 10

  37. Curtis Moore says:

I’d say 14. The kid is good.

  38. Garp says:

He has to improve by at least one from last year. Put me down for 14.

  39. Pete says:

15 if he doesn’t get injured. 8 if he does.

  40. Blanchman says:

    9 wins for the win.

  41. North of Missoula says:

Love the leg dangle. It must take a lot of strength and fitness to be able to do that under hard deceleration entering a corner over and over again in a race. I would kill myself on the first corner.

  42. Karlsbad says:

While we are predicting here is an easy one, and it pains me to admit this but Past champion Nicky Hayden won’t even make a podium this year. An inferior bike way down on power he will run with the also rans all year long.

  43. schmoe90 says:

14 – that way he’ll get a higher percentage of race wins in a season than Doohan.

  44. Karlsbad says:

Well if the Sepang testing is any indication of the continued unfolding of the MM domination in this wonderful sport I give him 13 wins with 16 Podiums. Championship in hand at race 15
    Cheers

  45. grumpy8521 says:

8 wins. Competitive Yamahas and a (hopefully) resurgent Ducati squad will make the playing field more even.

  46. Blackcayman says:

    So many variables!

I’m going with 11 wins. Hopefully due to increased competition and not injury.

  47. Chris M. says:

    10

  48. Craig says:

With Lorenzo arriving healthy and without his thumb up his posterior… I believe Mark will win 11 this year. After that he’ll leave Spain and head to the US to run the short track series with Jarred Mees. (With Factory Honda Support)

  49. I would say 13, again.

  50. mankyle says:

    An unlucky 13.

  51. Jeremy in TX says:

    Who is Marc Marquez?

  52. HLRembe says:

I am saying the first 11 after that he is relegated to riding a Grom out of “fairness”

  53. Dan H. says:

    11 races.

  54. Trent says:

    I’m guessing ten.

  55. Wanderer says:

    8 wins.

  56. Rich E says:

    I say 9

  57. Bandit says:

I think he will win 23 – oops there are only 18 so that’s not possible.
Injury to MM (unfortunately) will only allow him to win 2.
The rest will be all over the place and Jorge & Rossi will fight for the title.

  58. Vrooom says:

Damn, all the good numbers are taken. MM is outstanding, but the likelihood of a crash finally sidelining him for a few races is high. I’m going to say 9 races. Rossi will get 3, Pedrosa 2, Pol Espargo 1, Dovi 1, Lorenzo 2.

  59. Bob says:

Marquez will have seven (7) wins according to my crystal ball (which is just as useless as my other balls).

  60. Bob A says:

    I say 7…..

  61. roscoe van jones says:

im still rootin for the doctor. 6 for rossi and 6 for mm 0 for pedrosa and nicky gets the rest.

  62. WIfiveturdy says:

Eight (8) wins this season for Marc. The competition is catching up to his hanging off riding style ways.

  63. uffe says:

    11 wins.

  64. Glen says:

I will guess the number that hasn’t been used yet: TWELVE (12) Wins!

  65. James says:

10 wins for Marquez in 2015. Rossi+Pedrosa+Lorenzo=7 wins. A random rider will win a rain-soaked race at some point in the season.

  66. david says:

    9 wins for marquez

  67. I predict 8 wins this year for Marquez, competition will be very tough this year.

  68. Bill says:

Number of wins may not even matter, he’ll probably still win. Look at Hayden’s champion year. However, to hold us to the coals on number of wins, I think I have as much chance as guessing this as the number of races Stoner will win.

    • mickey says:

Good point in 2006 there were 7 different winners. 5 had 2 or more wins. Rossi had 5, several had 3 and all lost to Hayden who only had 2. The difference was Rossi had 3 DNF’s, a fall in the final race and a loss in Portugal to Elias by 0.002 secs. You don’t necessarily have to win in order to win. Fun fact Lorenzo was 250 cc World Champion that year, his first.

  69. mickey says:

Interesting considering his dominance the first 2 years that of 30 fans, 12 have him winning less than 1/2 the races. Must be more competition than first thought.

  70. BSheppard says:

3 wins, the competition has stepped up their game.

  71. MARK CHASE says:

I think he is going to win 14 this year. He is going to want to beat his own record.

  72. gino says:

seven races pedrosa and lorenzo will step up this year.

  73. GFW52 says:

    Lucky 13!

  74. Joe Caron says:

    7 (seven) wins.

  75. John says:

Aren’t we down to just 17 rounds with the British GP dropping off the calendar?

I’d love to see him equal or surpass his mark from last year but I’m wondering if he’ll lose some of that confidence and resiliency and not live up to his potential this year, like we’ve see with Lorenzo the last couple of years. No one has predicted 5 wins yet so I’ll go with that number.

  76. Joe Caron says:

    7 (seven).

  77. Dominic Aubry says:

    8 wins

  78. Tommy D says:

I think its going to be 6 wins. I hope I’m wrong but I saw him push the bike too hard when he was challenged. I think he will have a frustrating year of unimaginable mistakes. I see a crossed line with a leading Ducati popping him off the saddle and missing a couple rounds as well.

  79. wmgillette says:

six (6) wins for various reasons, mostly more maturity equals more conservative

  80. Ty says:

Zero. Zero wins after injury sidelines him for the first half of the season and he spends the last half healing the mind.

  81. George says:

Marquez will win 6. Why not put poles won (fastest qualifier) as the tie breaker. I think 9 poles.

  82. Eric says:

Part of becoming more mature is learning you don’t have to win every battle to win the war. I’ll go with 9 wins and the championship going away.

  83. andy s says:

I say he will have 11 wins.

  84. Will says:

    Nine (9) wins

  85. Brinskee says:

I’m going with 9. I think Dovi will get a win, Rossi a few more, Dani 2, and a few for Jorge. I too think MM93 will crash and get injured, the way he rides it’s bound to happen. Like others have said, I don’t want it to happen…

  86. stinkywheels says:

I’ll take 7. I think he’s gonna crash and miss half a season. I don’t want it to happen but it’s inevitable. I’m rootin’ for Rossi but I have to root for the old man.

  87. Brian says:

    Nine wins for Marquez.

  88. Provologna says:

    Eleven (11).

  89. Alex says:

Hopefully not as many as last season. I pray for a better mix of winners and a compelling fight for the championship. I’ll say MM gets 8 race wins.

  90. Frank says:

15 wins…..(barring injury) he was just to fast at the first preseason test.

  91. Brian says:

Seven wins for Marquez. Five for Rossi. Three for Lorenzo. Two for Pedrosa. One for Pol Espargaro.

  92. Martin says:

    1st mm 10wins, 2nd jlo 6wins, 3rd vale 2wins, 4th dani, 5th pol, and ROY maverick

  93. TunaPete says:

Eleven (11) wins for Marc Marquez. It will be another amazing season for him, but not a record-breaking number of wins.

  94. al says:

Nine wins, I know that for sure!

  95. Hot Dog says:

    Jlo 7 – MM 4 – Pedo 3 – Vale 3 – Pol E 1 . Take it to the bank.

  96. roadrash1 says:

    10. Hey…..it’s a nice, round number.

  97. Dino says:

    Lets go with 9.

Some new, young talent will enter the field. Some wily old guys will find new life. Perhaps a bit more reality for MM to contend with…

  98. Hugh says:

    Marquez 2 wins

  99. jimmihaffa says:

A few more young flyers in the field this year. I actually think this will be Lorenzo’s year. I’m going to predict 8 wins and the championship for Lorenzo and only 5 wins for Marquez, 2 for Pedrosa, 1 for Rossi and a few upsets from others in the field perhaps Espargaro or Crutchlow.

  100. Davide says:

    Ten (10)

  101. jim says:

13 wins. He’ll be dominant but not as much as last year.

  102. Rico Swavay says:

13,and he will have to work very hard for it.
    GOOOOOOOOOOOO!

  103. Eric W says:

    Fourteen (14).

  104. Tom R says:

Twelve wins, four seconds, one 5th, one DNF.

  105. James Buchanan says:

Dice roll… a six and a five… Ok, we’ll call it eleven. Turning to my official MGP dilithium crystal orb, it looks like upcoming talent and a mid season injury will both play roles.

  106. mickey says:

    Five
