Eli Tomac Muscles His Way to Victory in Seattle

Foothill Ranch, Calif. (April 8, 2018) – Round 13 of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship wasn’t one to miss as the riders were faced with the toughest conditions yet. As the skies over CenterLink Field poured down, Monster Energy® Kawasaki riders excelled as Eli Tomac captured his sixth win of the season, and teammate Tyler Bowers raced his way to a career best 450SX finish in sixth place.

When the gate dropped on 450SX Heat Race 2, Tomac quickly proved that he would be hard to beat in the mud after dominating the heat race with a 39-second margin of victory, while Bowers qualified in third place. In a shortened 12-minute, plus one lap 450SX Main Event, Tomac wasted no time off the start sliding around the first turn in third place. On Lap 6, the leader would go down and Tomac would take over the lead. The conditions were treacherous, but Tomac kept his KX™450F on two wheels for 11 laps to take the win. Tomac now sits in third place in the 450SX Rider Points Standings. Bowers powered through the mud and slop to finish in sixth place, a 450SX career best for him.

“Today couldn’t have gone any better for us,” said Tomac. “This is motorcycle racing and we have to deal with the cards we’re given. Tonight were some of the craziest conditions I’ve had to race in, but I had a blast. I am pumped to get another win and now sit third in the points. I am looking forward to keeping the ball rolling into Minneapolis.”

“Today was crazy,” said Bowers. “I wasn’t sure what to expect tonight with how the track conditions were, but I have always felt confident in the mud and to finish in sixth, feels great. The trick tonight was to take it slow and steady and to keep it on two wheels the best you could. I can’t thank the Monster Energy Kawasaki team enough for all their support.”

It’s been a “checkered flag or crash” SX season for Tomac, I hope he does better in the outdoor series.
