An interesting weekend at KTM’s home track in Austria.
Starting from the front row, KTM’s Pedro Acosta led both the Sprint and the Sunday GP with good gaps over second place. He crashed from the lead in the Sprint with less than 3 laps remaining, but held on to win in Sunday’s race – the first win of his career at the MotoGP level.
The Sprint was won by Jorge Martin (Aprilia) with Marc Marquez (Ducati) finishing second and Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia) third. Sunday’s GP saw Acosta work his way to the front and then hold on for the win over Martin in second and Bezzecchi in third.
Beating Marc Marquez in both races, Martin broke his tie in championship points and now leads the championship by 12 points. The next round will be held in Japan in two weeks.
