Outdoor Nationals to be Broadcast Via the Internet

For those of you who long to attend each and every AMA Outdoor National event, but lack the time and money to actually do so, don’t despair! As the following press release from OMS Sports indicates, all 12 rounds of the AMA Outdoor Nationals will be broadcast “live” via the Internet on the official web site of the Outdoor Nationals — mxnationals.com.

TROY, Ohio, (May 10, 2002) – The National Promoters Group today announced that race coverage of all 12 rounds of the AMA/Chevy Trucks U.S. Motors Championship will broadcast “live” streaming audio, via the Internet, on the official web site of the Outdoor Nationals and the only motocross web site to offer live trackside announcing of the races – mxnationals.com.

According to NPG member Don Kenworthy (promoter of the Troy Outdoor National), this landmark event – the first time ever that motocross streaming audio has been broadcast live – is another way for the NPG to elevate the sport of motocross through it’s existing fan base, while introducing the sport to whole new segment of fans and potential sponsors alike.

“The NPG is committed to growing this great sport through production and promotion of the highest quality motocross racing events in the world,” said Kenworthy. “This exclusive live broadcast on mxnationals.com allows us to not only further legitimize the sport of motocross, but to also keep motors fans worldwide in tune with the race as it’s unfolding.

“This is, without a doubt, a landmark event for the sport of motocross.”

In cooperation with Clear Channel Motorsports and sponsored by Racer X magazine, the NPG’s exclusive streaming audio broadcast of the Outdoor National Series on mxnationals.com – dubbed the “Racer X Nationals Web Cast” – will begin at approximately 12:30 p.m. on race day and last in the area of 4.5 hours – until the race and post-race interviews are complete. The stream will be provided on Windows Media Player only with a flash commercial movie that runs as a place holder until the live event begins. The NPG expects in excess of 20,000 listeners per event.

Commentary on mxnationals.com during the live broadcast will come from Outdoor National track announcers Irv Braun and Tim Cotter. In addition, live-to-tape trackside interviews will be conducted by a number of motocross celebrities, including former racers and industry icons.

“The NPG is very excited to provide this service to the motocross industry,” said Kenworthy. “The Outdoor Nationals enjoy a very loyal fan base, and one which continues to grow at an enormous rate every year. The exclusive live broadcast on mxnationals.com allows the NPG to keep up with our remarkable global fan base and deliver them a high-quality product on every Sunday.”
