Big things were expected from Ducati’s Ben Bostrom in WSB this year. After a season that included five straight victories, Bostrom was expected to challenge for the title. Instead, after the first several rounds, calling Bostrom’s results mediocre would be generous.
One theory would be that there are “Michelin tracks” and “Dunlop tracks”, but Bostrom (who rides on Dunlops) has been beat by a number of Dunlop riders, already. He was even beaten by his younger brother Eric in the last round during a guest ride for the Kawasaki WSB team.
He can’t blame the bike — the same bike Troy Bayliss has used (albeit, with Michelin tires) to dominate the series so far. Whatever the problem is, his American fans are sure waiting for it to end, and for Ben to return to the form he showed during the latter half of the 2001 WSB series.
