BMW’s stand at the Intermot motorcycle show in Cologne, Germany was the site of the first appearance of a range of new G650 models. The three bikes, dubbed the XChallenge, XMoto, and XCountry, all share similar chassis, and all appear to be powered by a refined version of BMW’s current 652cc single-cylinder powerplant (as found in the current F650 range).
The XMoto seems to be the pure supermoto model of the range, featuring street-focused 17-inch wheels carrying a claimed dry weight of 324lbs. The XChallenge, meanwhile looks to have more realistic off-road capabilities due to its 21-inch front wheel and 18-inch rear hoop (which should allow fitment of more dirt-oriented rubber). The XChallenge is also the lightest of the three bikes, with a claimed dry weight of 317lbs.
The final model is designated the XCountry (not pictured), and this machine slots right in between its two siblings with its 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels. The looks of the XCountry are the most understated of the bunch, with little of the prominent off-road influenced plastics present on the other two machines.
