Carmichael’s Shoulder Good Enough to Race U.S. Open This Weekend

Ricky Carmichael (Suzuki) is five weeks out from his shoulder injury at the final round of the AMA Motocross series. This injury forced him to miss the Motocross des Nations, but Carmichael feels strong enough to race the U.S. Open Supercross event this weekend in Las Vegas Nevada.

In a press conference prior to the Las Vegas event, Carmichael revealed that he had torn his shoulder rotator cuff, as well as his labrum. He said that surgery was a definite possibility, but he chose instead to let nature take its course and heal the tears without surgery. Rival James Stewart (Kawasaki) is also racing the U.S. Open event for the first time in several years this weekend. Stewart tried to race last year, but fell ill during the weekend.
