Colin Edwards will ride a Honda MotoGP bike in 2004 on the Telefonica MoviStar team. His teammate will be the multi-race winner in 2003, Sete Gibernau. The team runs Michelin tires.
You may recall that Edwards tried to get a Honda MotoGP ride for 2003, but, despite his incredible victory in WSB in 2002, Honda offered a MotoGP machine contracted to develop Bridgestone tires. Edwards declined this offer, and instead signed with Aprilia (which switched to Michelin at Colin’s insistence).

If you have been reading MD, you know that we (along with our readers) are greatly disappointed with Aprilia’s results (or more accurately, lack of results) in 2003. Neither Edwards nor his teammate Noriyuki Haga ever came to grips with the Cube and the results were dismal.
Now, Edwards will race in 2004 with perhaps the best bike, on the best tires, and a year of experience under his belt. If you saw what he did in WSB in 2002, you will expect, as we do, impressive results.
Valentino Rossi wanted a challenge in 2004, and Honda will make damn sure he gets one. Edwards is just part of that program.
